This is part of an E-Mail that was sent to me, another victim of thinning the herd ! and all this poor guy is guilty of is TRYING TO DO HIS JOB THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE

” Hi,

I just found your website/blog. I was terminated last July  8th 2008. My
manager failed to have the vehicle I was using (new ford econoline)  checked
for the speedometer being off. I was suspended on January 8th for having two
speeding tickets within 5 days of each other he told me I was not working
fast enough wanted to know how fast I am driving because the time between
stops averaged out to around 50 to 55 miles per hour with the time it should
take me to drop my package get up to speed turns and all and the area I am
driving in I should average about 60 to 62 miles per hour. Well I was
driving 55 to 60 mph so I bumped it up to 65. Big mistake the tires on the
van were a size to big and the speedometer was off by 3 mph at 65 I was
doing around 71 can you say speeding ticket? Over corporate speed limit? Yup
both times and I was suspended, but here is the kicker he took the van in
and had it repaired while I was suspended. Tires replaced and the
speedometer gear replaced.”

Ya know I’m not going to even go into the many many many lawsuits between FedEx and and the state of California, but yea there is a whole shitload… Well too many for a single company at least lol..

But one lawsuit hits home for me… A few years ago California employees sued the company because they would punch in 30 to 15 min before their scheduled start time sometimes an hour and would punch out and do their paper work off the clock because they time us on our paperwork we only get 5 to 8 min to do our end of day reports and paperwork and so-forth..

You also see when we punch in and your a courier you get 5 to 10 min for a pre work meeting, 5 min to get your equipment ( your power-pad and printer) and 5 min to pre trip your truck ( check the oil, get your supplies, sign on to system get your stops and go)

Oh and some managers bust your balls too and say ” your still here ? ” or ” Come on Hurry up” some days I really don’t wanna go to the bathroom until I leave an go on the road so I don’t have to hear shit

The reality is sometimes you truck needs oil, you have no hand-truck and supplies in the only truck you can take.. Your power-pad or printer is bad or there are no trucks and you have to wait.. Almost everyday there is something so you come in a lil early and punch in so your not late when you are wrapped up in doing everything else you know HAVING RESPECT FOR YOUR JOB AND THE FACT YOU HAVE ONE !

I know what one of your questions are, didn’t you tell your manager about your issues ?  well hell yea but they actually liked you to come in early because if they needed you to start early to bail them out you were already there..

And as for doing your paperwork off the clock, its a benefit too is shows that the station is meeting its efficiency goal on in station hours..Which is another bonus the managers get

Well anyways they won the lawsuit in Cali and they were paid for all the hours that they were owed…and as a result we can now only punch in 5 min before we start

OK.. So what about me and the hundreds of people like me in other states, since 1989 toooo about 2007 ..I was punched in 45 min to an hour before my start time to get the things I needed to do my job done and worked about 15 min after I punched out doing my paperwork ( I used to get back to the building late I always had a heavy route and the packages have to go out soooo )

Where is our back pay ? Hummmmm

Years ago some of my co workers would ask me why I came to work early, I said ” because I have respect for the job”

Christ if I knew then what I knew now I would have made them do the right thing… Like Do Their Friggin Jobs !

I want to go off the ranting a little bit today and take a few days off after this post..You see its Friday and I just had to take the day off,  I  just could not go in today..The whole week has been more bullshit ..They cut my start time to a half hour later, giving my work away to the delivery drivers..

They say they have to cut back because of the summer, but why are the delivery drivers getting overtime then instead of cutting them off early and making them doing a pick up route if they need the money..Their answer is making me come in a half hour later and if I get slammed with work I have to deal with it .. Right ??

So I can’t make my 40 hours and do my job right and stress free but other people can take my work and make 50 hours and get the 10 hours overtime, I was sooo stressed out I just had to have a few drinks..To tell the truth I am drinking a lot more now, on Sunday nights now I look at the clock and realize man I got to be at work tomorrow then I start pouring shots of my favorite whisky..

I am an athletic guy I run 4 times a week and hit the gym 3 days a week, I  think cause im in such good shape my hangovers aint that bad..But when I talk about work now I get so agitated and just get in a messed up mood..

When I think of all the times I worked off the clock, came in with a migraine or a severe cold with a fever not to mention when I was part time I used to sell one week a year of vacation back to the company so I can help out the managers and run my bitch of a route

And they have been treating me like shit for the past 5 years, some higher ups have said If I don’t like it here I can go, ya know so many times I just wanted to get up an leave..  I have had so many conversations with Memphis and they side with the manager’s all the time

But  I wont give in I will stay until I get a stroke or end up in a loony bin ! Fuck ‘em

I have worked too hard and put up with so much shit as you my readers will read in the posts to come but now I just need a little break from it all..

OK and I know some people will read this and defend FedEx and have their say but trust me  you will find out when they start messing with you,and  this is about me and my dealings in my station and its just hell..

And why should I go ?  It was and is my hard-work getting the job done and getting my managers their bonuses an making them look good..

Oh hell I dunno I need a drink
