FedEx Open Door Policy
I have mentioned this before in a few posts..
What the Open Door Policy does is, It gives the employees a chance to bring a concern to the powers at be in Memphis.. Now you have to find this out on your own.. You see the managers will never tell you, and in my station they hang the policy up on the checkin wall for one day during the annual audit then they take it down..
I asked a employee of 5 years yesterday what is the open door policy he said its when you go to your manager and express your concerns and they always have their door open to you.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA whew wait a sec HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA..
OK Im done sorry everybody , that is what the mangers tell you the poor boy has been gettin messed with and never knew he can take his concerns elsewhere..
But the open door only works 5% of the time.. I am the king of the open door as a matter of fact I have to do one today for the bullshit they are TRYING to do ( More on that later tho)
You see Memphis is tainted by manager input, and they believe Managers more than us.. But sometimes they realize their Mangers fucked up bad like in a few cases with me.. They will never admit it send you a nice reply, but whatever you open doored gets changed in a few weeks.. Hummmmmm oh really so you sent me a reply that management was in the right but it gets changed with some excuse later one Yea Yea Right Thats The Ticket LOL
I even had an Open Door not make it to Memphis..
See the Open Door goes to the Director of the region and Memphis at the same time but the Director sees it first, I have talked to a few other that said their never made it too..
Alot of times the Director knows what they are doing, but he wants his bonus too and you can imagine what his is, so usually the managers will try and talk you out of it.. they say ” Well its only temporary” or ” Whats the big deal its not going to last long”
Motherfucker the big deal is your screwing me to either..
1. Get your monthly bonus- and we get less hours-Less Pay-and no bonus
2. Take care of another courier that is in your little click or he/she is fucking a manager that you know or work with
3. Having a courier with less seniority and less pay do my job and make more hours than me and a Part Timer at Fucking that
Christ the list goes on ..
Just another day working at FedEx.. They Keep you stupid to achieve their goals but once you get smart its a target on your back
Fuckem at over 200 pounds I always been a big target anyways lol
Fedex vs California
Ya know I’m not going to even go into the many many many lawsuits between FedEx and and the state of California, but yea there is a whole shitload… Well too many for a single company at least lol..
But one lawsuit hits home for me… A few years ago California employees sued the company because they would punch in 30 to 15 min before their scheduled start time sometimes an hour and would punch out and do their paper work off the clock because they time us on our paperwork we only get 5 to 8 min to do our end of day reports and paperwork and so-forth..
You also see when we punch in and your a courier you get 5 to 10 min for a pre work meeting, 5 min to get your equipment ( your power-pad and printer) and 5 min to pre trip your truck ( check the oil, get your supplies, sign on to system get your stops and go)
Oh and some managers bust your balls too and say ” your still here ? ” or ” Come on Hurry up” some days I really don’t wanna go to the bathroom until I leave an go on the road so I don’t have to hear shit
The reality is sometimes you truck needs oil, you have no hand-truck and supplies in the only truck you can take.. Your power-pad or printer is bad or there are no trucks and you have to wait.. Almost everyday there is something so you come in a lil early and punch in so your not late when you are wrapped up in doing everything else you know HAVING RESPECT FOR YOUR JOB AND THE FACT YOU HAVE ONE !
I know what one of your questions are, didn’t you tell your manager about your issues ? well hell yea but they actually liked you to come in early because if they needed you to start early to bail them out you were already there..
And as for doing your paperwork off the clock, its a benefit too is shows that the station is meeting its efficiency goal on in station hours..Which is another bonus the managers get
Well anyways they won the lawsuit in Cali and they were paid for all the hours that they were owed…and as a result we can now only punch in 5 min before we start
OK.. So what about me and the hundreds of people like me in other states, since 1989 toooo about 2007 ..I was punched in 45 min to an hour before my start time to get the things I needed to do my job done and worked about 15 min after I punched out doing my paperwork ( I used to get back to the building late I always had a heavy route and the packages have to go out soooo )
Where is our back pay ? Hummmmm
Years ago some of my co workers would ask me why I came to work early, I said ” because I have respect for the job”
Christ if I knew then what I knew now I would have made them do the right thing… Like Do Their Friggin Jobs !
Courier Check Rides
I mentioned this earlier in a post or two, but the check-ride is when your trusty manager sits with you a few hours.. They evaluate your working methods and how you drive, customer interaction and so forth.. They basically look at what your are doing, like lets say if you are not making your numbers they go out and see what the problem is or if you have an accident they see how you drive ( more on accidents later) .. It all sounds simple right ?
What the check ride is REALLY for is to pick you apart and make almost everything your fault, now my first few years as a courier I really didn’t pick up on this but then years ago when I only had 6 years in the company and was getting 13 dollars an hour I was the perfect courier and they dinged me on stuff that yea I could have did better..
Now fast forward to my 13th year, oh Jesus H. Christ lets see on the things they got me on ..
1. I started the day off great but slowed down the last few hours I need to pick up the pace ( sooo I gotta be haulin ass for 8 straight hours ? Screw You Im Human not a Robot)
2. I didn’t say have a good day to the customer ( This was after me and the customer were joking around and we were both busy)
3. I didn’t ask if there was anything else ( this was from a regular customer I know only ships on letter a day)
4. I didn’t tuck my shirt back in ( I just lifted a 90 pound box that my own manager didn’t help me lift)
5. My truck was dirty ( Fuck we don’t even get assigned trucks and we only have 10 min to get our shit and leave the building how in the hell am I supposed to clean a truck and do everything else ? )
Now I have copies of my check ride evaluations but I cant post them because they are copyrighted by FedEx sooo I gotta do the right thing here ..
Now also keep in mind what score we get on our check ride affects our review which also if a big factor on the raise we get
One time I narrated everything I did and why I did it, and they still binged me for petty shit LOL
Its just amazing to me that you go to work and do what you are told, and your manager the guy you bust your ass for and supposed to be on your side and your supposed to trust to help you out and have your back will smile in your face and play the good guy role..
Will try to get you in the end when it comes down from the top..
And the worst part of all this is.. Its the managers word over yours..Who is to say the manager is fair and tells the truth after all its you and him/her all alone out there no witnesses..
Man Aint That A Bitch !
